My daughter Claire is my third child-and my only girl. For a few years she was the only granddaughter on both sides of our family. Needless to say, all the women in our family rushed to accessorize our one “peanut” as she has been called since she was born. I hate to admit it, but in my excitement to beautify my young daughter, I would spend $7.00 or more on adorable hair clips and headbands for her. In early 2011, I was shopping and passed the ribbon aisle. I decided to buy some and try my hand at making hair clips (and try to save some money too!). I made a few and they turned out so well that I made them as party favors for Claire’s sixth birthday party. All of her friends and their mothers loved them. They encouraged me to make more. A month later, our neighborhood held their annual rummage sale and I had a display of fifty clips that I had made. Forty of the clips sold. I heard again and again that weekend how other mothers were tired of the high prices that hair clips were costing. I have been selling the clips at craft shows and farmers markets and even have a few displayed in stores in south eastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. The clips are handmade and unique-at a great price. I hope your peanut loves these pretties as much as mine does.
